T2 VW camper, white smoke?
White smoke pouring out of a ‘73 devon. Air-cooled 1600, only 3000 miles on the clock…
If it’s winter it can often be nothing more than condensation. A 1973 T2 aircooled VW doesn’t have either headgaskets or a water based cooling system, hence the word AIRCOOLED. So it’s certainly not a gasket problem. They’re simple robust engines which is why they were so popular.
pretty easy to see walk around back and smell it it could be either smell oil then ring smell coolant then it head gasket

White smoke means usually water into the gas. So I would say piston rings.

Where are you? If it's winter it is prolly nothing but condensation. For everybody else a 1973 T2 aircooled VW doesn't have either headgaskets or a water based cooling system, hence the word AIRCOOLED in the question.
